Summary, etc. Eddy de Wind, en ung holländsk läkare, deporteras tillsammans med sin hustru till Auschwitz 1943 och han får tjänst som sjuksköterska i en barack för polska krigsfångar. När ryssarna befriar lägret stannar de Wind kvar och tar hand om de skadade ryska soldaterna. På plats i lägret börjar han också skriva om sina upplevelser.
