Summary, etc. Det är mars 1969. Om bara några månader ska amerikanerna landa på månen och världen bli en annan. En ung man kliver in på galleriet Malborough Fine Arts i London där man visar en utställning med Oskar Kokoschka. Han vill höra vad det kan kosta för att få den österrikiske konstnären att måla ett porträtt av hans mormor. På ett ungefär, mellan tumme och pekfinger. Mormodern är ingen annan än den kända deckarförfattaren Agatha Christie och porträttet är tänkt som gåva till hennes 80-årsdag. Mycket motvilligt går de två åldrande konstnärerna med på projektet och i sex sittningar närmar de sig varandra, avslöjar vilka rädslor och begär som formar ett skapande liv. Det blir ett samtal om döden, kärleken och konsten - i valfri ordning.
