Summary, etc. En tonårsflicka hittas irrande omkring i utkanterna av Oxford, uppriven och omtumlad. Hon berättar att hon blivit indragen i en bil, att någon dragit en plastpåse över hennes huvud och sedan kört henne till en avskild plats där hon blivit utsatt för övergrepp. Ändå vägrar flickan att anmäla sin förövare. Kriminalkommissarie Adam Fawley påbörjar en utredning men kommer ingenstans eftersom flickan inte vill samarbeta. Döljer hon något och i så fall vad? Och varför får Adam en känsla av att han har varit med om det här fallet tidigare? När ytterligare en flicka försvinner har Adam inte längre något val.
